Moroccan Students Expelled for Criticism of State Policies - ANHRI
Said the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information today that the
Moroccan students have become a target for a cruel suppression that
the Moroccan authorities are practicing against them, for criticizing
the discriminative educational policy that some of the faculties and
universities use against political active students. While Boubkar
remains in prison, after he was arrested more than two months ago in
Taza city.
Meknes University have expelled four students permanently and three
students for temporarily (for three years), and suspended the study
of eight students for a year.
These harsh decisions taken by Meknes University against those
students who were charged only for expressing their opinions
peacefully, where some of them were accused of posting a banner
reading " Saharawi Nation's Right in Self-Determination", while
others charged for obstructing the main proceeding of the work in the
academic institutions.
Taza University continues its conspiracy with Security against the
students Jadda Boubkar, who is detained since 21st of July because of
his critics to the educational policies, and the police suppression
against the students.
" The practices of these Moroccan universities is considered as a
series transform in the universities role, where the Moroccan
universities conspires with security apparatuses and repress their
students instead of supporting them and their right to express their
opinions." said the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information.
The Moroccan government had used to repress those who criticize its
practices, under the so called "War on Terrorism", establishing
extended bridges for the repression against activist students who do
not relate to any radical groups, and known only of their secularism
and advocacy for their rights to express their opinions, and
criticism of the discriminative educational policies disfavoring the
students from leftist background.
The Arabic Network required the Moroccan authorities to withdraw its
brutal decisions that threatened the future of those students, and to
fulfill its commitment in guaranteeing the right to express the
opinion that was also provided by the Moroccan constitution.
