A Beautiful Blend, Mixed Race in America, is a documentary that explores multiracial people in America. Multiethnic personalities are everywhere: on magazine covers, in movies, and on television. There are a number of celebrities, such as actress Halle Barry and golfer Tiger Woods who don't quite fit the familiar racial categories. They are part of a growing number of people—famous and not so famous, who have inherited a beautiful genetic blend from parents of diverse origin. Many share the experience of being approached by total strangers who want to know what they are, not who they are. But most mixed race people want to celebrate all of their ethnicities. They want to be part of mainstream society, not treated as a curiosity.
Today's multiracial youth reflect the changing faces of America. The numbers continue to bear that out. It's expected nearly 75 million Americans will identify with more than one race by 2050. It's a powerful new force that cannot be ignored.75 million - We should think about those numbers. By 2050 the main demographic (and political) axis in the United States will consist of:1. White2. Hispanic3. Mixed-raceIn some Southern States (California and Florida) #1 and #2 may be reversed. But the writing is on the wall - Biracial and multiracial Americans will at some point replace African-Americans as the #3 point-man in the American mosiac and American corridors of power. African-Americans will need to think about what this means for their own communities and how they will reach a reconcilation with Biracial Americans, who have often been treated badly by African-Americans.
