Last March 31st, Carlos Mourato(CT4RK), ARLA's (Associação de
Radioamadores do Litoral Alentejano) Vice-President, has announced
that a new D-STAR repeater will be soon operative in Serra da
Arrábida, 30 Km South of Lisboa, at the Portuguese ARLA/CLUSTER
Internet mailing list. The technical project, as well as the
licensing process has already been sent to ANACOM (Autoridade
Nacional de Comunicações), the Portuguese administration of
telecommunications.

Last April 19, Eduardo Gonçalves(CT1DQV) the President of ARAT
(Associação de Radioamadores do Alto-Tâmega), has announced also, at
that same Portuguese Internet mailing list, that a new D-STAR
repeater will be shortly operational in Serra do Leiranco, 1146
metres above sea level. This site is located between Chaves and
Boticas, in northeast of Portugal. The technical project, as well as
the licensing process, regarding this assignment, has been also
already sent to ANACOM for licensing proposes.


Also Nuno Santos, CT1EWA, the President of ARAL (Associação de
Radioamadores do Distrito de Leiria), has announced on the
aforementioned Internet mailing list, last April 19, that the D-STAR
repeater CQ0DLR, in Serra dos Candeeiros, near Leiria, Portugal, is
now effective and 100% operational, including new software GW2
Status to gateway access.

In April 20, the same source has in addition reported a first
contact between Portugal and USA using D-Star technology via gateway
access (CQ0DLR G), with Steve Bosshard (NU5D).

At moment, in Portugal you have the following D-Star Repeaters
operational:
