In my opinion there are two types of vocabulary
in natural languages:
1)basic vocabulary that is rather diversified:
words are recognizable with some variations only in the limits
of small families of languages.
2)scientific, technical, medical, geographic, historic (etc.)
vocabulary:
words are recognizable with some variations in several very large
families of languages.
This second type of vocabulary is the most richest one
and dropping hundreds of thousands of so international words
would be inconsequent .
I personally recommend a posteriori languages.
