El autor nació en San Cristóbal de La Habana, Cuba, el 6 de Junio de 1944. Muy joven salió para Estados Unidos donde ahora ejerce como abogado en Palm Beach y participa activamente en el mundo del polo internacional.

 

Mario G. de Mendoza III was born in Havana, Cuba, in 1944. At an early age he came to live in the United States and now works as a lawyer in Palm Beach, Florida. He is an active participant in the world polo scene.

P´allá y P´acá. P´allá, en la ínsula de los cubanos; P´acá en la península de los cubanos. Fragmentación de una experiencia común tratada en tono irreverente, por alguien que, en su vivir y en sus intenciones, es profundamente irreverente, pero no falto de seriedad, sensibilidad y compromiso.El libro nos narra, en primera persona, las peripecias y las observaciones de un cubano que vuelve a su suelo natal después de 45 años de ausencia. Pero el valor y el placer de esta narrativa autobiográfica, no se quedan ahí. El humor, la ironía, el sarcasmo y el desenfado del texto, además de hacernos sonreír, reír y, a veces, fruncir el ceño, nos va develando, poco a poco, una visión poco común de la experiencia cubana.. Mario G. de Mendoza III ha escrito un texto fácil de leer, pero no tan fácil de olvidar.

 

P'Allá and P'Acá loosely translated means 'Over there and Over here'. P'Allá in the island of the cubans. P'Acá in the peninsula of the cubans. A fragmented common experience which is treated with an irreverent tone, by someone who in his lifestyle and intent is profoundly irreverent, although not without maturity, sensitivity and commitment. The book narrates for us, in the first person, the peripetia and observations of a Cuban who returns to his native soil after 45 years of absence. But the value and the pleasure of this autobiographical narrative do not stop there. The humor, the irony, the sarcasm and the unembarrassed freedom of the text, besides making us smile, laugh and, at times, frown, reveal to us little by little an uncommon vision of the Cuban experience. Mario G. de Mendoza III has written a text which is easy to read, but not so easy to forget.
