José Manuel García nació en la provincia de Sancti Spiritus en Cuba. Inmigró a Estados Unidos en 1980 con los inmigrantes del Mariel. Obtuvo un Bachelor of Arts degree de Montclair State University en New Jersey. Posteriormente hizo una maestría en la Universidad de Arizona de la cual también se doctoró en literatura Hispanoamericana. José Manuel García hoy enseña literatura hispanoamericana y estudios latino americanos en Florida Southern College. También es jefe del departamento de Lenguas Modernas y director del programa de estudios internacionales en España y México.
Jose Manuel Garcia was born in Cuba and came to the
United States in the Mariel Boatlift of 1980. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts
degree from Montclair State University and his Masters and Doctorate degrees
from the University of Arizona. Currently he is professor and chair of the Modern Languages Department at
Florida Southern College.

En este libro el profesor García presenta un valioso esquema de la literatura cubana en general y especialmente de las obras escritas por escritores cubanos en Estados Unidos. Dentro de ese esquema sitúa su estudio sobre las novelas de tres importantes escritores: Oscar Hijuelos, Cristina García y Elías Miguel Muños. El libro contribuye tanto a una mayor comprensión de la obra de los tres autores principales como a dar una idea del trabajo literario de los escritores de origen cubano.
In this book Professor Garcia presents a valuable
outline of Cuban literature in general and specifically of works written by
Cuban writers in the United States. Within this outline he includes his study on
the novels of three important writers: Oscar Hijuelos, Cristina Garcia and Elias
Miguel Munoz. The book contributes to a larger understanding of the works of
these three key writers as well as give an idea of the literary contribution of
writers of Cuban decent.

this is his first novel.

José Miguel González-Llorente nació en La Habana, Cuba, en 1939. En 1961 se radicó en Caracas, Venezuela, donde obtuvo la licenciatura de Comunicación Social y se vinculó a una empresa publicitaria global dentro de la cual desarrolló faenas creativas y gerenciales por 31 años. Vive en Estados Unidos desde 1991 y ha recorrido toda América Latina al frente de una organización regional consagrada a la libertad de expresión de la publicidad. Ha publicado dos novelas, La odisea del Obalunko (2002), Tierra elegida (2003) y el libro documental sobre el presidio político cubano Voces tras las rejas (2004).

Miguel Gonzalez-Llorente was born in Havana, Cuba, in 1939. In 1961, he went to
live in Venezuela where he received a degree in communications and for many
years worked in a global marketing company. Since 1991, he lives in the United
States where he spends his time visiting Latin America as part of an
organization committed to freedom of expression and writing books.
