En este momento Gisel busca jovenes que puedan participar en un documental
que esta preparando y que espera que su impacto tenga transcendencia en los
programas - o falta de programas - que existen para los jovenes que por
cualquier motivo les ha tocado inmigrar a Canada.
El proyecto suena interesante. Gisel no es tan solo muy profesional en su
trabajo si no que se siente muy apasionada por el tema del documental. Asi

Hi my friends
I have a question for you (Sorry to bother you)
Im doing a documentary about the struggles and challenges Latin American teens face when the arrive in Canada during their TEEN years (12 - 19)
but the challenge is finding someone who is willing to speak openly on  camera
The idea of the Doc, entitled NOT BY CHOICE, is to tell the story of three Latin youths that where sent  or brought to canada by their parents or relatives... for what ever reason... but not BY THEIR choice
We want to show how some blend into this society and adjust very quickly and easily , while others struggle and fail with day to day activities due to their lack of language skills or because they feel alone... How do some succeed and others  ended up in drugs, gangs... pregnant.. or homeless... there are two sides to every story and we want to tell it ... We want to show what happens when teens arrive  without the English language, family and friends.. ... puberty... teen years are already hard, but to move to a new country has its own challenges
I thought of an old friend, Marcello (el hijo de Juan Echevarrieta, El BURRO), pero no se donde esta... el termino en drogas y en gangs cause he was just lost.... count find himself to like toronto... hated coming here and changing his life
do you guys know anyone who may fit this profile
Arrived in canada within the last 10 years
Was a teen when they came
It wasn't their choice to come and leave their home
Latin American decent
Struggling to fit in and succeed
Willing to open up on camera to me
This is an important project for me,  there are many misconceptions about our Latin Culture in this  country
Most non hispanics believe we HAD to leave our country because of monetary, we had to leave our POOR GHETTO homes back in Latin America
not realizing that some did came out of need, but some came because of political issues, from poor, middle class and well to do families also came. Some because of an abusive relationships  back home.. spouse or other.. in other words there are stories that vary, not all came our of choice
My main goal  is to show and try to figure our why, some come and succeed yet so many fall through the cracks
it is our ESL programs that don't work well
they didnt for me... My dyslexia wasn't diagnosed or noticed till I reached grade 6... 3 years after arriving here
do we need more government programs to help these teen adjust?
Sorry to go on and on.. Im just very passionate about this subject and I believe someone needs to tell the story of our TEENS, the youth that comes here and is expected to succeed without many of the tools they need to
Can you guys ask around ... maybe you know of someone?
The reason to tell the story is to try and find a solution so it doesn't continue to happen
there are ways to succeed no matter what adversities we face
we just have to show them how... and let kids that are in that position now, that they are NOT alone
so please guys, if you know of someone that can help us with this story... documentary
