I´ll express my feelings directly, just to let you
know. I will write more proper protest, in correct
english soon.

I spent many years of my life promoting othello.
The first tournament in Argentina was hold in 1980, 18
players took part of it.
We recieve Othello Quaterly since then. Although no
company ever sold Othello in Argentina, we always
named the tournaments "Othello tournaments", at least
Reversi/Othello tournaments.
A lot of tournaments arranged through the years, a lot
of effort, time and money involved.
I still remember the days of IOS, where many players
shared their pasion at ridiculous hours through the
net, ages ago, before internet became what it is
today.
I hosted manually once a week internet tournaments in
argentine room in Yahoo, for about 2 years, we had a
yahoo group with more of 200 members, until we had a
problem with Yahoo Argentina and that ended.

Now I discover that someone felt necesary to spread
countries into categories. Some countries may send 4
players to WOC, others may just send 1. No money issue
this time. Just some kind of elegant discrimination.
The formal way to decide wich country deserves the
spot or not seems to be the existence or not of
federations.
In my opinion there are many federations that doesn´t
stand for a legal request.
And although I try, I simply can´t find the reason to
take that decision.
In conclusion, I feel is a total disrespect to people
promoting Othello ( not just in my country ) for
nothing.

I send copy of this mail to Othello mailing lists, and
as I said we will send a formal protest too.

By the way, in case you wonder, no one from Argentina
is going to Greece. That is not the point.
